Progress Report #5

4/13/12

  • What have you been doing and how does it relate to your project proposal? I have continued making my dolls and learning all about paper mache. I have about 15  dolls now. With each one I make I am finding out new and better ways to make them. I have also started experimenting with different ways to painting them. I started including patterns such as strips or poka dots.
  • What have you learned? What challenges have you faced?  One of the challenges I have faced would be that its hard to get the dolls to stand up on their own. I have become better at building there underlying structure more sturdy and supportive so they will not fall over.
  • What is your next step?
To continue cranking out dolls like its nobodies business!

Progress Report #4

3/16/12

  • What have you been doing and how does it relate to your project proposal? I have become reallly involved with making my own paper mache dolls. My goal is to make 50 or more and I am well on my way to accomplishing that goal.
  • What have you learned? What challenges have you faced? I really enjoy the process of building them out of wire. Then using tape and news paper to form the base for the paper mache. I have learned that different types of paper mache make the object you are creating either lighter or heavier. They also dry different colors depending on what type of paper mache you use.
  • What is your next step?
To continue cranking out dolls like its nobodies business.

Progress report # 3

  • What have you learned? What challenges have you faced? I have not faced any challenges yet but I have learned that paper mache is messy!
  • What is your next step?
My next step is to try to form my own style with these dolls I plan on making.

Progress Report #2

2/17/12

  • What have you been doing and how does it relate to your project proposal? I actually gave up on the sewing business and moved on to trying to figure out something different.I like being able to create a lot of things at once. I like making things in multiples as well.
  • What have you learned? What challenges have you faced? I’ve been feeling like I’m stuck in art and I don’t know what to do with myself. So I feel the best thing for me is to just experiment until I find my way back into the art world.
  • What is your next step?
To experiment with different mediums and find something that really catches my interest.

Progress Report #1

2/3/12

  • What have you been doing and how does it relate to your project proposal? I have been sewing! I have been experimenting with different fabrics and different methods to sewing.
  • What have you learned? What challenges have you faced? I have learned that sewing can be very frustrating but once you learn how to unite two or more different pieces of fabric its pretty sweet. One of the challenges I have faced would be losing the needle if I drop it. Those things are so darn tiny and I can never find them. I have also learned that different thicknesses of the needle work well with different types of fabric. Using different types of thicknesses with strings also adds different textures to what I’m sewing.
  • What is your next step? My next step is to try and make pillows, or find some hard fabric to sew into. Maybe something with sand paper. I’m not sure, I’m feeling pretty experimental with this sewing business.

Progress Report #8

1/6/12

  • What have you been doing and how does it relate to your project proposal? I have completed all my smaller collages, they are photographed and on my website. I have started to look into sewing while still doing collage and so far I am really enjoying it.
  • What have you learned? What challenges have you faced? I learned that I can stick with collages when there small because I like getting them done fast so I can make a lot of them. I tend to work very fast when I enjoy something because I want to see how much of it I can make.
  • What is your next step? My next step is to sew and use collage. I began using just canvas instead of stretch canvas. I never noticed how big of difference there is. It’s more work and it adds to the process, So I like it even more.

Progress Report # 7

12/16/11

  • What have you been doing and how does it relate to your project proposal?  I stopped working on the larger collages and moved on to smaller ones. I am able to make them fairly quickly. Well I am able to start mulitple ones at the same time so that is pretty cool. I enjoy looking for things to put in my collages, it makes the process very enjoyable.
  • What have you learned? What challenges have you faced? I’ve learned that glitter can be used without ruining your art or making it look trashy. I learned I love glitter, and it makes a great texture in paint if you use enough of it.
  • What is your next step? Learning how to sew and do collage.

Progress Report #6

12/2/11

  1. What have you been doing and how does it relate to your project proposal? The more that I worked on the large collages the more I realized I did not not want to work on such a large scale. I started working on canvas and so far I really like what I have been making.
  2. What have you learned? What challenges have you faced? I have learned how to have patients and that layering takes a lot of time. One of the challenges I have faced was that I just want to abandon whatever I am working and start something new. For some reason its been hard for me to stick with one thing.
  3. What is your next step? My next step is to start working on smaller pieces. I have already begun working on canvas and plan to continue that and stop working on the big collages.. for now.

Progress Report # 5

11/11/11

  1. What have you been doing and how does it relate to your project proposal? I have been working on my two big collages. Adding on all the layers is really starting to pay off. I enjoy figuring out where to place things on the collage. I’m finding new things to work with that add great textures like fluff.
  2. What have you learned? What challenges have you faced? I have learned that I get annoyed by adding all the layers and still not feeling that it looks good, or even that its done.
  3. What is your next step? My next step maybe to work on a smaller scale. I feel that I will like smaller collages rather the big ones. Plus I can more smaller ones then I can make big ones because I enjoy working fast and making as much art as I can.

Progress Report #4

  2. What have you learned? What challenges have you faced? I have learned that I am a very productive person. I have learned many new painting techniques and my use of composition has changed drastically.  I did not face many challenges during this investigation but any challenges I did face I overcame very easily.
  3. What is your next step? My next step is just to keep painting. I may try to do some other shape paintings, like Cubism. I want to continue to keep painting and enhancing my skills in painting.

Progress Report # 3

10/15/11

  1. What have you been doing and how does it relate to your Project Proposal? Recently I have been working in my schools displays case. I have made over 20 paintings since my last progress report and now they are all hanging up for my school to see.
  2. What have you Learned? What challenges have you faced? The only challenges I have faced while working in the display case would be trying to get my paintings to fit together properly. It was a slight challenge to try and get them to overlap or to match.
  3. What is your next step? My next step is undecided. Although I may try to dive into some Cubism paintings. I know that I want to continue painting and strengthen my painting skills.

Progress Report #2

9/30/11

  1. What have you been doing and how does it relate to your Project Proposal?I have been experimenting with different surfaces to do my painting on. Going from Cardboard to canvas is a huge difference. The textures that both those surfaces provide are so different. I have noticed that using canvas really brings out the color of the paints I am using and the texture of the chalk that goes over it.
  2.  What have you learned? What challenges have you faced?I have learned the type of art I have become so interested in is called Orphism. I haven’t really faced any challenges with this study.
  3. What is your next step? My next step is to continue with these orphism paintings until the first marking period is over. My goal is to make 50 paintings or more and to have them displayed in a showcase.
